Disinformation

The expression fake news has really taken off to describe a phenomenon which information professionals and experts prefer to define with other, more technical terms such as disinformation, information disorder or information pollution. The term disinformation refers to false information created and released in order to deceive people and so generate political, economic, personal or other returns. In this section we clarify concepts such as misinformation, fact-checking and deepfakes. We will study how disinformation evolves, who spreads it, and why. And will also analyze the consequences of disinformation and learn how to combat it.
