On May 9th, coinciding with Europe Day, Learn to Check participated in the central event organized by the European Parliament in Barcelona, held at the Cotxeres de Sants.

We conducted three workshops on Europe and disinformation, aimed at young people, with the goal of promoting critical thinking and providing tools to detect falsehoods and informational manipulation in the European context.

The event began at 9:15 AM with the arrival of student groups from various high schools across Catalonia, ambassadors of the European Union.

The event was inaugurated with an institutional welcome, which included a video message from the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.

Next, attendees were able to enjoy the live recording of the LOFT radio show on 3Cat, aimed at Generation Z and Alpha, hosted by Berta Aroca. During the program, topics such as the rules of the European Union and the Erasmus+ program were discussed, with active participation from the students.

During the breakfast break, Learn to Check led three workshops on Europe and disinformation, providing tools to develop critical thinking and detect manipulated or false content in the European context.

After the break, the students received a visit from the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, and at 12:00 PM, there was a pedagogical workshop on democracy, artificial intelligence, and disinformation, conducted by the biochemist, science communicator, and host of the program El cazador de cerebros on La 2, Pere Estupinyà.

The day concluded with a performance of the European anthem by the choirs of the ambassador schools: INS Torre del Palau and Escola El Cim from Terrassa, followed by an institutional farewell.
