Roberto Gelado: Is it considered fun to amplify disinformation?
Can amplifying misinformation be fun? Is relativism really dangerous? Are lies today more sophisticated? Roberto Gelado, professor of Journalism at CEU and researcher at Iberfier, clears up all these doubts about the impact of misinformation. “The problem, I think, is that people don’t take into account what this ‘fun’ really involves,” says Gelado, referring to comments that see sharing misinformation as clever. This Journalism professor emphasizes the importance of fostering critical thinking: “If we don’t have a society aware of the need to question what we receive, we will be victims of disinformation.”
