Posted by Learn to Check | 22.02.2025

Lucas Graves, disinformation and fact-checking expert and professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, comments how fact-checking has evolved and which are the main challenges this movement faces. Graves explains that fact-checking was initially focused on checking political discourse, but it has evolved dramatically in the last few years. The challenges of fact-checkers are now related to develop a sustainable model and to end the threats they received in terms of reactions to their work. Lucas Graves is the author of Deciding What’s True. The rise of political fact-checking in American Journalism, and he was a keynote speaker at the summit “Desmontando la desinformación”, organized by Learn to Check and Fundación Telefónica on 6th June 2024 in Madrid.
