New media education project. Learn to Check has worked in recent months in the pedagogical advice of the SX3 Academy, the first school of digital rights of children in Catalonia. A project that has been launched by 3Cat with the collaboration of the Mobile World Capital Foundation (MWC), the Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) and the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia.

An expert team with extensive experience from the Learn to Check association has carried out tasks such as writing scripts, educational materials, proposals for activities and pedagogical supervision, after winning the tender for the project.

The first edition of the project, which started last October, has impacted on educational communities made up of 2,861 students and 257 teachers from nine primary schools throughout Catalonia, led by a motor team made up of 30 teachers. As they do in their classrooms with students, teachers have studied content related to training and digital well-being, and have had to demonstrate the learning acquired with practices with students.

On April 25, the closing ceremony of the project was held, which had a Learn to Check escape-room for the participating teachers. The SX3 Academy project has been funded with a grant from the Department of Education with Next Generation Funds of the European Union.

The project of the ‘SX3 Academy’ joins others in which Learn to Check is working, such as the project “Between lines: reading disinformation”, to train library staff with the Diputació de Barcelona, which will celebrate its second edition this June, or the project “NoNo me toques!”, with UNICEF Spain, in order to defend the digital rights of childhood and adolescence. In the last six years, Learn to Check has trained more than 10,000 people in digital verification and critical thinking with information and has collaborated with more than 60 entities throughout the State.
