We co-create media education activities in the project “Between lines, reading disinformation”
Games, reflections, brainstorming and teamwork to put everything black on white and co-create activities on disinformation and digital verification for libraries. The professionals of 25 libraries of the Diputació de Barcelona, the team of the Management of Libraries Services of the Diputació de Barcelona and the Learn to Check team held on October 18 at the Sagrada Familia Library – Josep M. Ainaud de Lasarte in Barcelona a face-to-face work session of the project “Between lines, reading disinformation”. The day served to co-create activities on disinformation and digital verification for the 25 libraries and also a joint escape-room to contrast the information.
The aim of the working session was to promote a space for conversation between the 25 professionals who attended and direct what will be the final result of the project, materialized in an escape room made collaboratively and for the use and adaptation of each participating professional, and a case guide with activities on disinformation and digital verification. They will be workshops and proposals for different ages and types of public.
The day was very well received by librarians and librarians, who began the morning by experiencing first hand the gamified methodology of Learn to Check to deal with misinformation, the escape room. They were also able to comment on their proposals for activities with the pedagogue and teacher, Montse Jiménez; with the doctor in Communication and founder of Learn to Check, Nereida Carrillo and with the trainer of the Learn to Check team, Marta Meneu.
In the session, different workspaces were created to advance in the different final activities of the project. The “Between lines, reading disinformation” initiative consists of training XBM professionals in disinformation and digital verification to design and execute pedagogical, cultural and educational activities to promote critical thinking with information and aims to promote the role of libraries as a reliable source of information and safe space and to sensitize and involve the community in the fight against disinformation. The Learn to Check team has developed several online training days that have joined this face-to-face work session.
